Big Heart Shaped Chocolate Chip Cookie

Items needed: ½ c. margarine or butter, ½ c. sugar, ¼ c. brown sugar, 1 egg, ¾ tsp. vanilla, 1 ½ c. all-purpose flour, ¼ tsp. baking soda, ¼ tsp. salt, ½ c. chocolate chips
Directions: Mix all together and then create a heart shape out of the cookie dough on a greased cookie sheet. Bake at 350 degrees F for 15-20 min. Let cookie cool some on cookie sheet before taking the cookie of the sheet.
*With melted chocolate, write a message for your Mom or her name. Do this by putting chocolate chips in a plastic bag (the bag needs to be straight on the bottom- usually an off-brand that doesn’t zip-lock). Microwave for 30 seconds and then squish the chocolate. Once the chips are melted cut a small corner in the bag. The bag is now a decorating bag.

4. Leave the container overnight to dry.
5. Take the rubber band off the next day and push pencils through the hole punches in the lid.

Forest Scene

• Small jar with lid
• Miniature nature items: trees, flowers, and/or animals
• Child size rolling pin
• Tacky glue or hot glue

Recipe for making play dough:
• 1 c. Flour

• 1/4 c. Salt
• 1 c. warm Water
• 1 tsp. vegetable oil
• Food Coloring (brown for soil, green for grass, none or white for snow)

Instructions:
1. Make play dough - Stir all ingredients together, adding food coloring last. Stir over med. heat until mixed together and is smooth. Place dough in airtight container when cooled.
2. To make the Forest Scene- Flatten out play dough with rolling pin. Use the mouth of the small jar as a cookie cutter (if you use the lid, the piece will be too big). Glue the play dough into the lid and let dry for about 10 seconds. Place nature items into the dough. Leave lids with forest scene on a cookie sheet to dry over night.
3. When the play dough is dry, screw on the lid carefully.
